Find a Domain Name and Registration
The first step to setting up web page space and e-mail addresses for personal use
or your business it to obtain a domain name (e.g. http://www.yourname.com). Many hosting
providers on the web will offer domain registration services as a reseller, even though
they are not an accredited ICANN registrar. There is nothing wrong with this, it is
perfectly legal though the reason they most likely do this is that they are afraid
they will loose your web hosting business should you register your domain at another site.
Since at Netmation we feel the resources we have and pre-build web applications we can
quickly adapt to your web page makes us stand out we have decided not to offer a registration
service on our web site for the end user. Also we have found many users prefer to register
them under their own accounts they setup with there preferred registrar.
To satisfy all experience levels of our clients we recommend one of the following two
methods for managing your domain names you have registered.
- Use your own Registrar to maintain the domain.
- Netmation maintains the domain with our Registrar.
Register and Maintainance by You
You can use any Registrar you want to maintain your own domain names.
The nameserver information you provide must reflect the names and proper Internet
protocol (IP) addresses of your Netmation's domain name system (DNS) servers.
Depending on the hosting services you require Netmation support will provide you
with the nameservers that you will have to enter into your domain record. If you
prefer to use another hosting providers Name Server you will need to
arrange changes through them regarding changes to the
MX record for some of Netmation's more advanced hosting services regarding sub-domains,
email forwarding, and newsgroup development.
Register and Maintainence by Netmation
Are you using Netmation hosting services and unfamilar with the process of setting up your
own domain name (i.e. http://www.yourname.com)? If so we will pay the registration fees of your
domain whether it is a new domain registration or a transfer. We are not just talking about
free setup, but Netmation will actually pay your yearly fee, a $35 savings to you, compared to
what many registrars will charge you. We are not aware of any
other hosting provider doing this. As long as you continue to host your domain with Netmation
we will pay for the yearly registration fees. There is no disadvantage to doing this, you will
still be listed as the Owner and Administrator of the domain. Netmation will be listed as
the Billing and Technical Contact. At anytime whether or not you continue to use Netmation
hosting services you can tranfer the domain to the Registra of your choice.
